MICHIGAN ANGLERS AND COVID 19 - DAN EICHINGER, DIRECTOR MI DNR

Crowded shorelines forced the closure of Steelhead hotspot Tippy Dam, earlier this week. Despite being outdoors, anglers and spectators are still required to observe the mandatory 6ft social distancing order.

Dan Eichinger, Director for the MI DNR, talks about the importance of social distancing and the covid19 virus and how Michigan anglers need to heed the warnings of the CDC.

UNITED DEER FARMERS OF MICHIGAN - DOUG ROBERTS

Michigan's deer farmers have been both hailed and jeered for their work in the field of making "monster bucks". Deer that is!

One high fence operation saw Michigan's first case of CWD and then was caught trying to smuggle deer out under cover of night! There are also those who are leading the charge in finding a way to slow or all together stop, the deadly disease through better funding and a sharper focus than local government agencies.

COMMEMORATIVE BUCKS OF MICHIGAN - RICHARD WILT

For nearly 40 years, the folks at Commemorative Bucks of Michigan have been keeping official records of Michigan's whitetail deer, elk. turkey and bear, using the Boone & Crockett method of scoring.

CBM's Richard Wilt, talks with us about the groups function and its intent to keep and preserve the officially recognized records in these categories for generations to come.

SPRING TURKEY TALK - AL STEWART, MI DNR

Our long time friend and turkey hunting mentor Al Stewart, celebrates his 50th year with the Michigan DNR this year. Al is the Upland Game Bird Specialist and will update us on the extended periods for the 234 hunt and the ZZ Private Land hunts for 2020. Al will also talk about if, the rain soaked spring had an adverse effect on the new chicks of the year.

 

ICE FISHING VACATION SCHOOL - MARK MARTIN

World Champion and Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame member Mark Martin, will join us again for a recap of his first school of the year at Houghton Lake. Mark will also preview what is coming for the second school at Mullet Lake.
